Engineers, videographers, data specialists, and educators. We are the Global Foundation for Ocean Exploration. Our team designs, builds, and operates robotic platforms that explore the most extreme underwater environments on the planet—from the deep ocean to the largest lakes. We're back in Papahānaumokuākea for the first ROV dive of the NOAA Ocean Exploration six-year campaign Beyond the Blue, and what a dive it was! We found a solitary hydroid around a meter tall, the biggest we have seen in our 15 years of exploration!

Video produced by GFOE video team member Caitlin Bailey during the 2025 Beyond the Blue expedition.

All footage was gathered aboard NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer with ROV Deep Discoverer and ROV Seirios, which are designed, maintained, and operated by the Global Foundation for Ocean Exploration in partnership with NOAA Ocean Exploration.
